Welcome to the website for the 37th Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships, the longest running national ballooning event in the World!
The 2007 event is, once again, to be held in County Westmeath, in the centre of the country, between the 23rd and 28th September. The base HQ for the event will be the Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone
and flights will take place both in the vicinity of the town
throughout the week.
The event attracts around 40 hot air balloons from countries such as Ireland, the UK and the USA. Details of these balloons and their pilots can be found in the Balloons Gallery.
The event is kindly sponsored by Westmeath County Council and Athlone Town Council., plus a number of local businesses as described on our Event Details page. We are truly grateful for their support.
It is expected that the balloons will fly twice each day, weather permitting, firstly around 8am in the morning and again at around 6pm in the afternoon. The status of these flights will be updated on the News page throughout the event.
